The president of the Delaware Nation of Anadarko recently warned members of Oklahoma's Cherokee and Osage nations to beware of state-recognized tribes that are taking more of the "pie" that federally recognized tribes count on. Currently less than half the states, including Oklahoma, do not recognize tribes.

North Carolina Governor Bev Perdue and Republican leaders have reached an agreement that proceeds from Harrah's Cherokee Casino will go to the state's general fund but will be used for education for the next few years. A conference committee will work out the details of a Vikings stadium funding bill that passed the Minnesota legislature. Among the items that will be discussed are the amount of the Viking's contribution, the extent of user fees and expanding charitable pull-tab gambling to help pay for the proposed $975 million stadium, but a new tribal casino in downtown Minneapolis and racinos at the state racetracks have been ruled out.
