Minnesota Tribes Prepare To Protect Status Quo
As the Minnesota legislature prepares to reconvene on January 24, the state’s Indian tribes with gambling interests are covering all the bases to make sure they maintain their monopoly on gambling in the state. Currently 18 Indian casinos generate about $15 billion annually and return $600 million to the casinos, with no revenue sharing with Minnesota. At issue is a new stadium (rendering at l.) for the NFL’s Minnesota Vikings.
