Massachusetts Speaker to Roll Out Casino Bill in April
Massachusetts House Speaker Robert DeLeo and Governor Deval Patrick (together at left) appear headed on a collision course over the issue of racinos vs. casino resorts as the speaker began introducing elements of his proposed bill, although he has postponed filing it until April.
AG, Not Governor, Rules Alabama Gaming
That's the word from a circuit court judge, who says Alabama Attorney General Troy, not Governor Bob Riley, is in charge of patrolling gaming activity in the state. The judge also scolded King for failing to control Riley's anti-gaming raiders.
Bermuda to Debate Casinos
A so-called “green paper” titled “Gaming in Bermuda” has been delivered by Bermuda Premier Ewart Brown (l.) to be debated by lawmakers this coming July. This may be the pro-gaming premier’s last chance to get casinos through the legislature.

Iowa Guv Pushes New Casinos
Voters in four Iowa counties have legalized casino gambling, and Governor Chet Culver (l.) is pushing the state’s gaming commission to approve licenses for the counties in order to create jobs and expand the state’s economy.
Indiana’s Centaur Files for Bankruptcy
Centaur, an Indiana company that owns casinos in Colorado and Indiana, has filed bankruptcy. The company plans to sell one of its properties, Fortune Valley Hotel & Casino in Central City, Colorado, but will keep open the Hoosier Park racetrack (l.) in Indiana, and concentrate its efforts on racinos and racino development.
