GLI Certified by Chilean Gaming Authority

Fri, Jan 22, 2010

Testing and certification company Gaming Laboratories International continues its worldwide expansion with the recent approval of Chile’s national casino regulatory authority to serve that country’s casino sector.

Gaming Laboratories International is now authorized by the Chilean Superintendent of Casinos to test and certify electronic gaming devices and technology for the national casino market. GLI is the first gaming testing lab to receive such accreditation from this authority and marks the successful completion of a year-long process.

GLI Development Manager for Latin America Karen Sierra-Hughes said, "We are absolutely thrilled to receive this accreditation. This is an important milestone for GLI and for Chile. GLI has been very active in supporting regulators in Chile and throughout Latin America for years, and we are very pleased with the progress being made across the region."

A casino licensing process was established by Chilean lawmakers in 2005. A maximum of 24 casinos is allowed by the law, which also established the relevant testing processes.

In Latin America, GLI is also active in Argentina, Panama and Peru. The company is participating in the process for establishing the standards for Chile, and is working with Colombia and Mexico to develop technical standards in line with international practices to help regulators meet objectives in those countries as well.

GLI has 13 testing laboratories in Africa, Asia, Australia, Europe, South America and the United States. It is the only global organization of its kind to hold both U.S. and international accreditations for compliance with ISO 17025 and 17020 standards for technical competence in testing and inspection services.
