Once again, Sofia is the place to be in early October. The regionally focused BEGE show and EEGS conference is a must for those looking to make their mark in any gaming sector within the Balkans or adjacent lands.

Sofia, Bulgaria Readies for Annual Balkan Gaming Event

The Balkan Entertainment & Gaming Expo and concurrent Eastern European Gaming Summit are being held for the third year running at the Inter Expo & Congress Center in Sofia, Bulgaria. The dates for this year’s show and conference are October 4-6.

The expo draws exhibitors from the interconnected worlds of gaming, amusement and tourism. Well-known casino suppliers like Abbiati and Gaming Partners International are joined by regional companies active in both the casino and street slot sectors. Bulgaria’s homegrown slot industry is well represented by Casino Technology and Euro Games Technology, both of whom participate regularly at G2E, ICE and numerous other shows around the world.

Also featured this year are suppliers active in the sectors security and surveillance, digital signage and food & beverage.

The accompanying Eastern European Gaming Summit will offer attendees a unique opportunity to get to know the region, which has 55 million inhabitants. Representatives of gaming associations from Bulgaria, Croatia, Republic of Macedonia, Romania and Serbia will be joined by their counterparts from Austria, Greece and Poland to review changes in the regulatory environment. The speakers will outline the challenges and opportunities experienced so far this year, and provide forecasts for the near future.

Armin Karu, chairman of the board of Olympic Gaming Group, and Yuri Rozental, director of European marketing for MGM Grand, will present their views. Regional operators Princess Casinos, Grand Casino Beograd and Club Hotel Casino Loutraki will be among those sharing experience with the audience.

European regulator association GREF will be on hand, as will a number of representatives of law firms and consultancies active in the industry. The legal and regulatory fine points of online gaming, within the region and the rest of Europe, will be a key topic of discussion. Those interested in promoting poker tournaments will find tips offered by a professional event organizer.

BEGE and EEGS are initiatives of the Bulgarian Trade Association of the Manufacturers and Operators in the Gaming Industry, or BTAMOGI, with Spectrum Gaming Group partnering for the EEGS program.

Registration can be completed online before September 30. More information is available at www.balkangamingexpo.com and www.eegamingsummit.com.
