Sun International Names Resorts Director
Sun International appears to have gone with the “give a busy man more work” theory in its appointment of John Lee as resorts director.
Sun International Group has named John Lee resorts director, effective August 1, 2010.
Lee joined the company in 1986, starting as a divisional finance executive and holding various positions on his way up. He was appointed to the Sun International Management Limited board as director of new business development in 1995 and played a key role in obtaining additional licenses under the new casino legislation of the day.
In 2001 Lee was appointed e-business & technology director and CIO, which led to his being named “CIO of the Year” by the Computer Society of South Africa in 2003.
Lee now has dual responsibility: for the CIO portfolio, and for the management of Sun International’s resorts operations, including the group’s sales and marketing functions locally and internationally, centralized purchasing and the “Dreams” outbound tour operation. He will work closely with the director of gaming operations.
