Washington, D.C., Nevada Move Online Gambling Bills

The District of Columbia has approved a budget that allows the state-run lottery to offer a poker website within its borders, becoming the nations first jurisdiction to allow online gaming. But the site could run into trouble against murky federal legislation and other obstacles. In Nevada, a bill legalizing intrastate online poker was approved by an Assembly committee.

William Hill Buys Into U.S.

The British sports betting giant buys two Nevada companies, giving William Hill a dominant position running dozens of sports books in the state. The company also buys America’s first mobile sports betting platform.

Caesars Cuts Deal with Massachusetts Track

Caesars Entertainment last week reached a deal with Suffolk Downs Raceway (l.), near Logan Airport in Boston, to build a $600 million gaming entertainment center. Meanwhile, the speaker of the Massachusetts House indicated that he is open to compromise on the issue of racinos in order to make gaming legislation happen in the Bay State.

Senators Want to Limit ‘Fix’

Senators Jon Kyl (l.) and Dianne Feinstein want to make it harder for tribes to put land into federal trust if the land isn’t near the tribal homeland.
