Native-Owned Business Recognized

A business owned by members of Canada’s Cree Nation has been cited by a prestigious packaging awards program for its hotel amenities used in many tribal gaming resorts.

Mother Earth Essentials, a family run, Native-owned business, that utilizes traditional aboriginal knowledge to create unique bath products, has been nominated for an award at the HBA Global Expo (www.hbaexpo.com), the leading product development event for the beauty and personal care industry. The company, which supplies hotels and resorts with the bath products, has been named a finalist in the Green Category in the annual International Package Design Awards (IPDA), recognizing Mother Earth Essentials hotel amenities line. The company has begun to distribute its products to many tribal gaming resorts.     

Mother Earth Essentials, owned by members of Alberta Canada’s Cree Nation, utilizes sacred plants that have been used in aboriginal culture for thousands of years. The company has received permission from Cree elders to bring this aboriginal knowledge to a wider audience.

The company uses such scents as sweetgrass, sage, wild mint, wild rose, berries and cedar in their products. Every label contains the stories of the plants and their traditional uses.
