The Jamestown S’Klallam Tribe is looking at a 2020 completion date for the $40 million five story, 100-room hotel it is constructing to be the companion to its existing 7 Cedars Casino in Washington’s Olympic Peninsula, which lies to the east.
Construction, which will be by Swinerton Builders of Bellevue, will begin this week on the hotel and is expected to take up to 16 months.
Jerry Allen, 7 Cedar Resort chief executive officer told the Peninsula Daily News that he appreciated the tribal council’s support, “because it’s a big bet, a bet we’ll be living with for a while. The fact they are letting us take this leap is exciting.”
The hotel will feature a different aspect of tribal culture on each floor, with water, land, trees and sky the elements featured—and tell the story of the Pacific Northwest and the tribe’s history and culture. It is being designed by Rice Fergus Miller Architecture.
Eventually additional towers could be added, with that decision being made after looking at revenues for two years after the hotel opens, said Allen. A spa, event center, RV park and parking garage could also be in the cards, he said.
The tribe will soon begin work on a road to connect the casino resort to U.S. Highway 101.
The project is being funded by a combination of cash and debt, said Allen.
One the hotel is finished the resort will be open 24/7. Current it closes a few hours each day.
