The million Cascades Casino will open on August 19 in Kamloops, British Columbia, Canada. Gateway Casinos Chief Executive Officer Tony Santo said, “This facility is for people to go out and have a good time, and if you want to gamble, you can gamble. There’s going to be a lot more to do about entertainment and not just about gambling.” Santo noted the facility represents the latest in Gateway’s projects. “This has a lot of the new thinking that we have. I think consumers want a social experience. Our changes are trying to stay current with what people want. We aren’t only about gambling. We’re about entertaining people.”
Upon entering, visitors will notice architectural features that evoke the natural surroundings. “One of the things about the casino, when we were developing the design, was to utilize the elements of Kamloops and the natural beauty,” Santo said.
The casino floor will offer 500 slot machines, 18 table games and three poker tables.
The property will feature three restaurants, including Match, the high-end Atlas and a buffet. Equipped with a stage for live entertainment, the lounge will be located in front of colored glass overlooking the Thompson Valley.
Santo said the total capacity of the entire facility is approximately 2,300. In addition, he noted it will provide 325 jobs.
