Business is really good for the Snoqualmie tribe. The casino the tribe opened in 2008 employs 1,100 local and tribal members in the Puget Sound area of Washington State.

The time seemed right to begin work on a $400 million expansion, highlighted by a 210-room hotel and 2,000-seat entertainment and convention center. The expansion will also add 11,000 square-feet of casino floor space, a spa and indoor pool and a 1,500-space parking structure.

The expansion is scheduled for completion in the fourth quarter of 2024, according to the Puget Sound Business Journal.

“It was always part of the plan to have a resort casino with the hotel and convention center but at the time they were brand new to the casino industry and wanted to make sure that the product they were offering was top-notch before really expanding and growing further,” a casino spokesperson said.

The first phase of the project focuses on site improvements, the valet entrance, parking and infrastructure to accommodate the renovations and additions.

In a news release, tribe Chairman Robert de los Angeles said the Snoqualmie people have “continued to strengthen and preserve our cultural traditions, protecting our sacred places, healing our ancestral lands, and establishing enterprises” to “provide our families with education, health care, and housing while also giving back to the community. This next period of growth at the Snoqualmie Casino allows us to continue advancing those goals.”

The project will provide an estimated 500 jobs with around 200 in the hotel and resort.

The casino spokesperson said the tribe will operate the new hotel.

The tribe is the Snoqualmie Valley’s largest employer, providing over 1,700 jobs, including the casino. Snoqualmie culture inspired the architectural design, including “a modern slant roof hotel design” representing the longhouses of the tribe’s ancestors.
