$45 Million Expansion Begins At Louisiana Racino

A groundbreaking ceremony kicked off the $45 million expansion at Delta Downs Racetrack Casino and Hotel in Vinton, Louisiana. The project, to be completed at the end of 2016, will add 167 new hotel rooms to the existing 200, which will be renovated. A pool, restaurant and events center also will be added.

Delta Downs Racetrack Casino and Hotel in Vinton, Louisiana recently held a groundbreaking ceremony for its million expansion project, expected to be completed at the end of 2016.

Phase one will feature a swimming pool, said Boyd Gaming Chief Executive Officer and President Keith Smith. In addition, he said the project will offer a new restaurant and events center, plus 167 new hotel rooms and renovations at the current 200 rooms.

“Vinton and Lake Charles and the whole of Southwest Louisiana have been growing greatly. We have a great property here. The problem is we can’t accommodate all the guests who want to come and visit us, with only 200 hotel rooms,” Smith noted.

Vinton Mayor Kenneth Stinson added, “It’ll help the entire Calcasieu Parish as far as gaming. With the gaming places in Westlake and Lake Charles, this is just an addition to that to get people another option to come. It helps Vinton in the ways of jobs. I mean, with the new hotel rooms, they’ll need to hire extra people. The eating places will need to hire extra people.”
