Troubled 666Bet—which is being investigated by the UK Gambling Commission—has managed to get back online and payoff the accounts of many of its players.
The commission says a “significant number’ of players have been paid. The online site has employed payment processor Skrill to make the payments.
Many customers of 666Bet have been unable to withdraw from the site since the gambling commission suspended its license in March as part of an investigation into possible money laundering that led to the arrest of several individuals in The Isle of Man and Britain.
“Our understanding from information provided by the operator and third parties is that a significant number of customers have been repaid via the Skrill account, including some of those whose withdrawals had been pending,” the commission said in a statement. “Our understanding of the current position is that the websites for Metro Play and for 666Bet are unstable, i.e. they intermittently cease to function. As far as we are able to determine, this is not connected with ongoing efforts to pay customers.”
666Bet owner Metro Play also released a statement.
“As we have only skeleton staff in place, we are unable to provide regular updates or to respond to individual customer queries at this time,” the statement said. “All our efforts are focused on enabling and processing refund requests.”
666Bet has set a deadline of May 24 for withdrawal requests, adding that “requests submitted after this time will not be processed.”
