AC Casinos Fined for Lost Slots, Unshuffled Cards

New Jersey regulators handed fines to Caesars Atlantic City for losing two slot machines in its accounting and to Golden Nugget for using unshuffled cards.

The New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement has issued two fines to Atlantic City casinos for basic rule violations.

The DGE fined Caesars Atlantic City for essentially losing two slot machines. Casinos are required to file a monthly accounting of all slot machines in use. According to regulators, two slot machines that were included in Caesars’ last report are not actually on the floor, and are still missing.

According to the report, Caesars was moving slot machines to and from storage areas late in 2013 and could not locate or account for two machines, but subsequently reported all machines accounted for. The casino was fined $5,000.

Golden Nugget Atlantic City was fined $4,000 for using unshuffled cards in four blackjack games in August, and for reimbursing a gambler $1,600 after the mistake was realized—two separate rule violations.
