Africa’s Gaming Giant Tsogo Sun Invests in Hotel Chain

Tsogo Sun Gaming, the largest casino operator in Africa, is now one of the top five investors in the South African hotel chain City Lodge.

A report by Reuters said the news organization looked at share ownership data and found that the gaming company’s stake is 5 percent, which was acquired by the company’s two subsidiaries HSS Investments and Entertainment Holdings.

Analysts speculate this could lead to the gaming company’s return to the hotel business. In 2019 the company split into two entities, one devoted to casinos and the other a hotel company.

Although HSS Investments and Entertainment holdings are not listed as Tsogo Sun Gaming subsidiaries, they share some directors and have the same address, said Reuters.

None of the companies involved responded to requests for comment.
