Aquis Entertainment Group reopened its Casino Canberra property effective August 10 in the Australian Capital Territory (ACT). The casino had been closed since March 21.
The company, controlled by Hong Kong businessman Tony Fung, will operate with a number of restrictions, including a limit of 100 people per defined area and a limit of one person per 4 square meters (43 square feet) of usable space, reported the Straits Times.
Fung applauded CEO Allison Gallaugher and her team, saying they worked hard “controlling the company through the hibernation period and preparing for reopening under restricted trading conditions. We look forward to seeing our employees and patrons returning to the casino in the coming weeks.
“This has been a very stressful time for all of our team members and I’m very happy and relieved that we will be able to recall our employees and start to rebuild our business again,” Gallaugher said. “We will be subject to strict restrictions, which will mean that we operate below full capacity for some time, but we are committed to ensuring strict social distancing and compliance with the current restrictions to ensure the safety of our community.”
