First, the bad news: the AGEM Index fell 10 percent in April. Year over year, the index declined 96.59 points, or 9.9 percent.
Now for some good news—after the downturn in April, the index jumped 20.68 points in May a 2.4 percent increase.
Half the index companies delivered increases in stock prices while the other half declined. But the month-over-month result was positive.
The largest positive contributor was Konami Corp., which reported an 18.99 point gain to the index as a result of an 9.5 percent increase in overall stock price. Aristocrat Leisure Limited added a 6.23-point gain with a 0.4 percent increase in the company’s stock price.
The largest negative contribution belonged to Light & Wonder Inc., whose 5.8 percent decline in stock price led to a 5.78-point loss in the overall index.
