The Association of Gaming Equipment Manufacturers is sponsoring a ,000 scholarship program at Philadelphia’s Drexel University for students interested in pursuing a career in the gaming industry. The scholarship is being offered by the university’s Center for Hospitality and Sport Management.
“The Association of Gaming Equipment Manufacturers is pleased to provide the support behind the new AGEM Scholarship program at Drexel,” said Marcus Prater, AGEM’s executive director. “Clearly, Drexel is committed to creating a gaming-centric curriculum that will grow over time and serve as a training ground for the region’s expanding gaming and casino landscape. AGEM is committed to a wide variety of educational initiatives, and partnering with Drexel and its dedicated staff is an exciting next step for our organization.”
“Casino and gaming management is one of the fastest growing sectors of the hospitality industry and at the center of tourism development in the Philadelphia region,” said Jonathan Deutsch, Ph.D., professor and founding director of the Center for Hospitality and Sport Management. “Through the generosity of AGEM as well as their member manufacturers, we are able to provide students a hands-on, leading-edge experience in and beyond our classroom at Drexel.”
The center will select scholarship recipients based on a combination of academic performance and interest in the gaming and casino industry.
The Center for Hospitality and Sport Management offers undergraduate and graduate degrees in hospitality management with a concentration in gaming and casino management. In addition, undergraduate and graduate certificate programs are also available in gaming and casino operations.
