AI Robot to Debut at Korea Hotel

Paradise Hotel Busan has revealed that it will trial an AI serving robot as part of an ongoing plan to reduce face-to-face contact between people due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Paradise Hotel Busan in South Korea has announced it will introduce an AI serving robot for contactless interactions among staff and patrons. The robot will be used on a three-month trial basis at first, and make its debut at Nyx Grill & Wine restaurant. The robot will deliver food and clear tables.

Paradise Hotel Busan includes the Paradise Casino and is owned by foreigner-only casino operator Paradise Co.

The robot, developed by KT Corp., is equipped with cutting-edge software such as 3D spatial mapping technology and autonomous driving. Its allows the robot to move between tables and avoid any obstacles.

“As non-face-to-face services using cutting-edge technologies such as robots have spread to the hotel industry, we have been quick to introduce robot serving services,” the hotel said in a statement. “We plan to continue to review the expansion of our non-face-to-face services.”

Paradise Co also operates Paradise Walkerhill in Seoul, Jeju Grand and its Incheon integrated resort, Paradise City.
