Air Canada to Start Flights Between Atlantic City and Toronto

As part of its new summer service to Atlantic City, Air Canada has announced it will launch service between Toronto and the resort. It’s the first international service for the airport in five years.

Air Canada will offer service this summer between Atlantic City and Toronto starting in May.

In 2010, WestJet offered similar service between Atlantic City International Airport and Toronto, but could not attract enough passengers to keep the flights operating.

Air Canada’s service will operate Friday to Monday from May 22 to Sept. 7 using a 74-seat plane. The flight from Atlantic City will depart at 12:05 p.m. and arrive at Toronto’s Pearson Airport at 1:44 p.m. From Toronto, the flight will leave at 10:05 a.m. and land in Atlantic City at 11:35 a.m.

“Air Canada is pleased to be adding Atlantic City to its already extensive U.S. network,” said Benjamin Smith, the airline’s president in a press release. “This new route will enable our customers to conveniently travel non-stop to Atlantic City, where they can enjoy its famed Boardwalk, beaches and casinos. It will also provide Atlantic City a direct connection to Air Canada’s Toronto global hub.”

Air Canada will receive financial subsidies to protect it from losses. The New Jersey Casino Reinvestment Development Authority will provide up to $705,000 in subsidies per year for the flights if needed.

“The Casino Reinvestment Development Authority welcomes Air Canada and looks forward to a strong and lasting relationship,” said John Palmieri, the authority’s executive director in a release. “Our organization understands the importance of increased air travel to create a positive impact in the region.”
