The Starlight Casino in the West Edmonton Mall in Alberta is poised to hold a grand reopening after its $57 million renovation that added 15,000 square meters to the 9,300 Palace Casino that it engorged. It will have 768 slot machines, 40 gaming tables and room for 2,000 patrons.
Breaking an old-standing casino tradition, the Starlight will live up to its name with big windows that will allow natural light to shine through.
The Western Canadian casino is a first for the region with the introduction of the Replay Arena with “Dealtrainers” who combine showmanship with dealership. They will help newbies to gaming learn how to play without stress.
Players will sit at interactive tables and play games like blackjack, roulette craps, baccarat and sic bo with a huge wide screen that carries a live feed of the action. The action is expected to be loud (there will be a DJ, after all) and fast-moving.
According to a spokesman, “The whole concept is to get new people involved, especially the millennials and younger generation. Games like blackjack and baccarat have been around for a long time, but what this does is put together entertainment and an atmosphere to it.”
Other new games will be Prizm Social Roulette, and live action digital horse racing .
New dining will include Halley’s Club, a retro 1930’s style night club with live bands, the Match Eatery & Public House, the Buffet, Chow Lucky Noodle Bar, and the Nova Bar.
