Amazon’s Alexa will soon be able to offer patrons sports betting tips, although it won’t be able to take sportsbook wagers just yet.
Independent Content Services (ICS) has begun offering the service through the ClubCall brand on Alexa-Amazon Alexa Skill. All you have to do is say “Open ClubCall.”
Ian Holding of ICS called the service “another touchpoint for them to engage with their customers and provide them with valuable information,” adding, “Amazon Alexa and other voice services are becoming increasingly popular in households all over the world. The platform provides such an easy and effective way to access meaningful content without being crouched over a screen.”
The important thing is to offer a real expert providing “relevant content,” said Holding, rather than a computer voice.
Voice-activated sports betting could follow soon says ICS. It could be as simple as asking Alexa for optimum prices and then making the bet.
Paddy Power last year announced it was studying “the potential of advanced technology such as AR, VR, voice tech and blockchain.” It then sent 50 customers and journalists Alexa Dots to test a 90-second bulletin concept as part of a PR campaign.
