Amaya Promotes Rational Group Executives

Amaya Gaming named Israel Rosenthal chief operating officer of subsidiary Rational Group and Gino Appiotti as chief marketing officer.

Amaya Gaming announced the promotion of two key executives of its online poker subsidiary Rational Group. Israel Rosenthal was named chief operating officer and Gino Appiotti was named chief marketing officer.

Rosenthal has held various operational positions with Rational, the parent of the PokerStars online poker brand. He succeeds former COO Rafi Ashkenazi, who has “transitioned to a role within Amaya Gaming,” according to a statement from the company.

Appiotti has served for three years as president of Southern Europe for Rational brands, undertaking PokerStars diversification strategy and new product implementation for the region. He replaces former CMO Alex Payne, who has joined EBay Europe.

The new CMO will lead the promotions and marketing of PokerStars’ new product catalogue which will include sports betting and online casino.

Appiotti will continue to work from Rational Group’s Malta office. Rosenthal will head up group operations from the company’s Isle of Man headquarters.
