Andalusia to Allow Sports Bets

The government of Andalusia, an autonomous community on Spain’s Iberian Peninsula, has announced that by this time next year sports betting will be permitted in the region’s casinos, slot parlors, and bingo halls.

In welcome news for Andalusia’s gaming industry, the government of the autonomous Spanish community will soon allow sports betting in casinos, bingo halls and slot parlors, according to multiple news sources. The announcement was made at the fifth Andalusia Gaming Conference in Torremolinos.

Antonio Miguel Cervera, director general for heritage of the regional government, said the new rules will be place within 12 months. The move is expected to boost the region’s flagging gaming industry, which saw a drop in revenues of up to 51 percent between 2010 and 2014, reported the website Yogonet.com.
