Another Delay for Okada Manila

Okada Manila, the $2.4 billion casino resort named for owner Kazuo Okada, will not open until late March, the billionaire’s Tiger Resort Leisure and Entertainment has announced. It was expected to open in February.

Largest resort in Entertainment City

Okada Manila, the newest and largest casino resort in Manila’s Entertainment City, will not open until the end of March, according to Tiger Resort Leisure and Entertainment, a unit of Japanese businessman Kazuo Okada’s Universal Entertainment Corp.

According to GGRAsia, the $2.4 billion resort—which held a soft opening December 21, and was supposedly set for a grand opening February 17—will be the Philippines’ largest integrated resort when it is completely built out. Casino operations at the property officially launched December 30.

“The construction focus has been on the VIP casino floors, restaurants, world-class fountains and other facilities in preparation for the grand opening,” according to a news release from the company.

Okada Manila will span 44 hectares (109 acres) and include a hotel and casino resort. It is the third resort to open in Entertainment City on the Manila waterfront. The others now operating are Solaire Resort and Casino from local developer Bloomberry Resorts Corp. and City of Dreams Manila from Melco Crown.
