Argentina Lawmakers Introduce iGaming Bill

Lawmakers in the province of Córdoba, Argentina recently introduced legislation allowing legalized online gambling, defined as “carried out by electronic, computerized, telecommunication means or through other interactive procedures.”

Profits from online gaming would be used to fund the provincial lottery.

The bill would include slots and table games, sports betting and lotteries. Anyone residing in Córdoba could apply for a 20-year license; however, foreign operators only could be licensed if they form a 35 percent partnership with a national legal entity.

In addition, licensees must make sure players can set deposit limits and request temporary or permanent self-exclusion. Also, games must trigger an alert when a gambler has been playing for three hours and every hour thereafter.

The province of Corrientes also recently published regulations for regional online gaming.
