Argentine Casino Ship Due for Facelift

Argentina’s Commercial Tourism Company has announced plans to invest $60 million in the restoration of a casino ship, the Nicolás Mihanovich.

According to CDC Gaming Reports, since 2013 the ship has been docked in the port of Puerto Iguazú, in the province of Misiones in Argentina.

“Without a doubt, it is an unprecedented attraction in the Triple Border area, from Paraguay to the world,” said Paraguayan counsel Magno Álvarez. The Triple Borders region includes the borders of Argentina, Paraguay and Brazil.

The eight-story, 290-foot ship has 52 cabins, swimming pools, saunas and Jacuzzis, as well as a solarium and fitness studios. The ship originally operated as a hotel and casino ship. It has four gaming rooms.

A similar plan to renovate the vessel were stalled in 2013. When the restoration is complete, the casino ship will occupy Paraguayan waters.
