As it completes a significant, three-year renovation and expansion project, Harrah’s Ak-Chin Resort & Casino in Maricopa, Arizona is adding more than 100 jobs and added new HR personnel to handle the hiring.

“The increase in gaming and entertainment space as well as the addition of luxury guestrooms means more people are coming to see what we have to offer,” said Robert Livingston, the resort’s general manager. “And that means more employment opportunities.”

“It’s a great time to be a job creator,” said Ak-Chin Employment Manager Lauren Conley. “We pride ourselves on being an innovator in the entertainment space and putting people to work means great things for our community. Our growth has caused a continual demand to fill positions in culinary, food and beverage, finance, audio visual, table games and environmental cleaning services.”

Harrah’s Ak-Chin 1,000 employees come from not only from within the City of Maricopa, but Phoenix and the surrounding communities as well. “The City of Maricopa’s bustling economy is great for business, but the local unemployment rate has made it difficult to fill open and specialty positions with local residents,” added Conley. “We have great opportunities and we invite the community to consider applying for one of our many open positions.”

Harrah’s Ak-Chin Resort & Casino also announced the addition of two new talent specialists. Maggie Beronio and Amie Pluskowski will be responsible for facilitating effective hiring by assessing staffing needs and identifying and recruiting talented individuals to fill open and specialty positions.

Most recently, Beronio was a recruiter with Legoland California Resort where she assisted with the full-cycle recruitment efforts of more than 3,000 candidates within a two-year period.

Pluskowski was responsible for establishing the Westbrook Stables facility, recruiting qualified candidates to fill a variety of animal service positions.

“We’re thrilled to add Maggie and Amie to the Harrah’s Ak-Chin family,” said Conley. “Their recruiting knowledge and ability to jump right in and make a difference make them a great addition to the human resources team.”
