Arizona Court Denies Online Gambling Loss Claim

An Arizona Appeals Court has thrown out a case where an online gambler was trying to recoup online gambling losses saying the state’s racketeering laws don’t cover gambling losses.

Jerry Hannosh, an Arizona resident trying to recoup online gambling losses through the Arizona courts has had his case thrown out by a state Appeals Court.

Hannosh said state laws which help those who have been ‘injured’ by illegal racketeering protected him, but the court ruled the state’s racketeering laws do not extend to gambling losses.

Hannosh lost $800,000 playing online.

The court ruled that Hannosh played because he had a chance to win and was aware of the odds of playing at the online gambling site. He also made no claim that the odds or the games were rigged in his suit. The online sites where Hannosh lost were not named in his suit.
