The 3-year, $320 million expansion at Southland Casino Hotel in West Memphis, Arkansas recently was completed.
Formerly a greyhound racetrack with 750 slots, the property now also includes a 113,000-square-foot gaming floor with 2,400 slot machines, 50 table games and a Betly sportsbook; 20-story, 300-room hotel with 12 penthouse suites; and a variety of bars and restaurants including a buffet, steakhouse and sports bar.
Southland officials said after 66 years, greyhound racing will officially end on December 31.
Lou Jacobs, chief executive officer at Southland owner Delaware North, said, “The Southland expansion is the culmination of a legacy project for Delaware North. The completion puts Southland on the map as a true casino destination that will draw patrons from both near and far.”
Jacobs said the venue expects to attract visitors from Memphis, Little Rock, Nashville, northern Alabama and St. Louis.
