Arkansas Track to Allow Some Spectators

Oaklawn Racing Casino Resort in Hot Springs, Arkansas announced it will allow limited spectators for its 2021 live race meet, complying with a directive from the Arkansas Department of Health. General admission to the grandstand will not be allowed initially. The 57-day season will run Friday, January 22 through Saturday, May 1.

General Manager Wayne Smith said, “We’ve been working on plans covering numerous scenarios and we’re happy to announce we will be welcoming back race fans in 2021, albeit on a limited basis. We know that the fans are what make Oaklawn so special, but our main concern is for the safety and well-being of our guests and team members. We appreciate the support we have received from the Arkansas Department of Health in developing this plan. We will be working with them throughout the live season and will adjust as needed.”

According to the plan Oaklawn submitted to the Arkansas Department of Health, only guests with a racing credential and/or reservation will be allowed into the grandstand. Current seasonal box seat holders and current Oaklawn Jockey Club members must make weekly reservations to enter the grandstand. Restaurants inside the grandstand will be open to the public with weekly reservations required. The venues must follow Arkansas Department of Health directives.

Simulcast also will be open under restricted hours and limited capacity; weekly reservations will be required.

In addition, guests and team members will have their temperature checked upon entering and must wear masks at all times. Smoking will be prohibited throughout the facility, including the casino. Social distancing will be strictly enforced.
