Those looking for a little slice of Vegas after a Texas Rangers game may be in some luck in the future. Although MGM has not confirmed reports, the company is said to be in negotiations with the city of Arlington to build an MGM non-gaming hotel in the area. The Fort Worth Telegram reported that a 750-room facility may be in the works west of the Arlington Convention Center and north of Globe Life Park. If successful, it could grow to 1,000 rooms.
‘I feel very positive,” Robert Cluck, Arlington Mayor told the Star-Telegram. “I think we’re closer than we’ve ever been.” While MGM has kept quiet on the matter, Mayor Cluck seems proud and willing to divulge more details. The property, if constructed, will feature no casino or gaming, as gambling is illegal in Texas.
Arlington has been looking to build a hotel near its convention center, Globe Life Park for several years.
