Arrest Over Cannabis Grow at Former Aspers Casino in UK

Police have made one arrest after a large cannabis grow was discovered at the former Aspers casino in the town centre of Northampton, England.

According to local media outlet, the Northamptonshire Chronicle & Echo, police executed a warrant on the morning of October 30. Plants in “various stages of growth” were discovered across multiple floors of the venue.

A Northamptonshire Police spokesperson said work was ongoing to ensure the safe removal of plants and associated equipment.

“A large cannabis grow was discovered inside with plants in various stages of growth across multiple floors,” police said. “One arrest has been made, and officers are now working to clear the location and make the building safe.”

What Does the Future Hold for the Aspers Casino Property?

The Aspers casino venue officially closed its doors in October last year after 18 years of operation in Northampton.

At the time, reports said the site could open under new leadership, with sources suggesting a rebrand to ‘Nines Casino’. However, the venue remains closed.

One clue as to the future of casinos in Northampton can be found on a website advertising ‘The N Casino’. Billed as “coming soon”, the website promises a new casino for the town, offering slots, table games and live entertainment.

While the location of the mooted casino is not disclosed, the website said it will be in a “prime location” in the town centre.

A Grosvenor Casino also operates in Northampton, as does a smaller slots facility under the Admiral brand.
