An independent research group says a casino resort planned for the Spit on the Gold Coast would ¬add US$544 million (AU$710 million) a year to the state economy and generate millions of additional room nights annually. ASF Director Louis Chien (l.) calls it a “game-changer for the Gold Coast.”

Research from independent property advisory MacroPlan Dimasi shows the billion ASF Consortium casino project planned for Australia’s Gold Coast would generate 0 million per year for the local economy and add 2.1 million visitor nights each year.

According to the Courier Mail, the resort to be located near the Sea World theme park is now open to public comment prior to government approval. If it gets the green light, construction could start after the Commonwealth Games in 2018 and be fully operational by the end of 2021.

The plan includes five high-rise towers, a casino and entertainment attractions plus a possible waterfront amphitheater with high-tech sound, light and hologram performances.

“This project is not your standard development as it provides significant immediate and ongoing investment and benefits for the region,” said ASF Director Louis Chien. “It will spearhead future tourism growth for Queensland.

“It’s a game-changer not only for the Gold Coast, but for Queensland, so now is the time for the Gold Coast to speak up and ensure they secure the prosperity of the community and future generations.”

The Mail reports the completed resort is expected to create 9,100 permanent full-time jobs—enough to cut the city’s jobless rate in half.
