Atlantic City International Airport will get a 0,000 advertising campaign that officials hope will attract more service to the facility.
The South Jersey Transportation Authority, the state agency that owns the airport—the airport is operated by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey—approved the campaign last month.
Through November 2013, the airport has seen a 21 percent drop in passenger traffic. Spirit Airlines is the only airline serving the airport now, but United Airlines recently agreed to start daily flights from Chicago and Houston on April 1.
The Casino Reinvestment Development Authority, a state agency funded by Atlantic City casinos, has approved a $2 million program that provides incentives to airlines that launch service in the city, including the waiver of landing and other fees, according to published reports.
