Atlantic City Airport Gets New Landscaping

The grounds of the Atlantic City International Airport are getting an about $500,000 facelift as part of the airport’s ongoing moves to attract more customers.

Atlantic City International Airport is getting a major landscaping upgrade and beautification.

“It’s an overall beautification of the terminal,” Kevin Rehmann, a spokesman for the South Jersey Transportation Authority, the government agency that owns the airport, told the Press of Atlantic City.

So far, bids to landscape the front of the terminal range from $429,600 to $524,434, the paper reported.

Rehmann said the bids will be reviewed before the contract is awarded.

Planned landscaping includes new trees, bushes and flowers as well as new LED lighting and furnishings inside the terminal. Parts of the terminal’s exterior would be recoated, painted and new ceramic tiles would be installed.

Rehmann told the paper that some work will concentrate on the oldest part of the terminal, but a tile mural of Atlantic City’s pre-casino skyline on the façade will be preserved.

The project will bring the outside look of the terminal—which is somewhat dilapidated—up to par with improvements that have been made inside the terminal, officials said.
