Atlantic City Brings Back Live Entertainment

Atlantic City casinos have taken the first small steps to bring back live entertainment. Though headliners in the showrooms and arenas still remain elusive under Covid-19 restrictions, lounge style acts have returned, sometimes in large venues where social distancing can be practiced, according to Hard Rock President Joe Lupo (l.).

Atlantic City Brings Back Live Entertainment

Like casinos in Las Vegas, those in Atlantic City are starting to bring back live entertainment within the framework of state-mandated restrictions to slow the spread of Covid-19. Headliners scheduled to play at the casinos this spring and summer either had their shows canceled or postponed for a year or more.

While top performers booked into showrooms and arenas pre-Covid are still a ways off, casinos are presenting smaller shows with lesser-known acts in rooms with occupancy and social distancing limits, according to the Associated Press.

Hard Rock will offer Motown-themed Christmas shows from December 11 to 30.

“Public demand is looking for activities, especially with outdoor temperatures keeping everyone inside,” said Hard Rock President Joe Lupo. “The large showrooms, with better air circulation and spacious seating, and less than 10 percent of normal (occupancy) can provide that safe and fun night out.”

Tickets will be sold as individual tables of two and four seats to ensure social distancing.

Harrah’s offered a series of outdoor concerts over the summer featuring rock and country cover bands with capacity topping off at 500.

Caesars has live music and bands every Friday and Saturday at its Wild, Wild West area, and Resorts has live entertainment at Bar One, also on weekends. Tropicana offers daily comedy performances at its Kiss Kiss nightclub.
