Atlantic City Mayor Wants Permanent Outdoor Stage

With an outdoor beach concert by country artist Blake Shelton one of the major summer events scheduled for Atlantic City, the resort’s mayor, Don Guardian (l.), is calling for a permanent outdoor concert venue.

Atlantic City Mayor Donald Guardian is calling for the construction of a permanent outdoor concert venue to help the resort stage major beach concerts.

Speaking at a tourism seminar at the Richard Stockton College’s Carnegie Center in Atlantic City, Guardian discussed the upcoming summer season in the resort.

Guardian pointed out that a concert on the beach by country artist Blake Shelton—sponsored by the Atlantic City Alliance, the city’s casino-funded marketing arm—is expected to be one of the highlights of the summer. The concert is scheduled for July and is to be followed three days later by another concert headlined by an artist who has yet to be announced.

“Let’s take a look at what happens this summer, and maybe we should be in the business of building a permanent stage on one of our piers instead of getting all excited about one or two events,” Guardian said.
