Atlantic City Nightclub Opens, Pop-Up Shops Coming

The site of the former 39 North concert venue recently successfully reopened as the WAV nightclub in Playground Pier at Caesars in Atlantic City. Owner/developer Bart Blatstein also announced he will offer up to 15 spaces in the property for "pop-up" shops for aspiring entrepreneurs involved in the arts and retail businesses.

Located in the Playground Pier at Caesars in Atlantic City, the new 20,000 square foot WAV nightclub recently opened in the former 39 North concert venue. Zach Seidman, director of marketing for WAV entertainment, said revenue and attendance exceeded expectations. “There is always going to be some kinks on opening weekend but I think people were happy with our staff and the talent,” Seidman said.

The club faces new competition with the opening of the Premier nightclub on April 8 at the Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa. But Seidman said, “In order for Atlantic City to work, we all need to work together.”

Tower Investments Chief Executive Officer Bart Blatstein, who converted the former Pier Shops at Caesars into the Playground shopping and entertainment complex last year, formerly owned the 39 North facility which closed after only a few events were held there. Blatstein leased the property to independent operators and recently announced up to 15 spaces will be available as “pop-up” shops for aspiring entrepreneurs involved in the arts and retail. Brandon Dixon, chief operating officer of Tower Investments, said, “Sometimes the creative types aren’t sure if their concept works or if they’re accepted. And this gives them an opportunity to test the market and will show them what they need to change about their concept or if their concept is great or not.”

Dixon said spaces will be available on all three floors. “We would want to put them around things we think they will benefit from. If it’s a woman selling some kind of women’s apparel at an affordable price, then maybe they’ll be next to Victoria’s Secret,” Dixon said. Current retailers include True Religion Brand Jeans, Tommy Bahama and Gucci.
