Atlantic City’s Boardwalk Hall Scores High for Midsize Venues

Atlantic City’s casino industry had a terrible 2014, but the resort still has some kick in it as its 14,000-seat Boardwalk Hall arena was ranked the second busiest in the country for its size. The hall saw a 26 percent increase in events in 2014.

Atlantic City gained some ground as a spot for shows and concerts even as it saw four casinos close according to polls showing that the resort’s mid-size Boardwalk Hall is one of the busiest arenas of its type in the country.

The 14,000 seat arena scored well according to rankings in the industry publications Pollstar and Venues Today.

Venues Today ranked the hall as the second busiest venue in the country for all arenas its size for the year ending Oct. 15, according to a press release from Global Spectrum, the hall’s operator. The magazine also ranked the hall as the 56th busiest venue overall in North America.

In the Pollstar rankings, the hall was listed as the No. 41 venue in the United States and No. 86 worldwide.

Global Spectrum said ticketed events at the hall increased by 26 percent in 2014 and more than 250,000 tickets were sold for events at the facility. That trend should continue as seven concerts at the hall are already announced for the first three months of this year. That’s the most scheduled concerts for Boardwalk Hall to start the year since it was renovated in 2001, the release said.

“Global Spectrum’s first year at Boardwalk Hall was definitely one to remember, and we’d like to thank all of the artists, agents, managers and promoters who helped us achieve these successes. With a variety of concerts, sporting events and family shows that offered something for everyone, we were able to provide a broad spectrum of entertainment to our patrons” said Fran Rodowicz, general manager for Global Spectrum at Boardwalk Hall. “We will strive to continue that momentum into 2015 and continue to bring world class entertainment to the Jersey shore.”
