Most Atlantic City casino hotels have spas and workout facilities, but Tropicana Atlantic City is taking the concept one better.
The casino has partnered with local hospital operator and healthcare provider AtlantiCare and announced plans for a two-story fitness complex to be built at the property.
The facility will be called the AtlantiCare LifeCenter Fitness at Tropicana. It is scheduled to open to both hotel guests and the public in May 2015, according to a news release.
Plans call for the center to be 12,455 square feet. It will offer the latest in cardio and weight training equipment, classes, amenities and programming, such as Zumba, yoga and tai chi classes, according to reports.
“We are always seeking the right tenant mix, and the AtlantiCare LifeCenter concept really appealed to us,” said Tony Rodio, president and chief executive officer of Tropicana Entertainment Inc. “There is a noticeable lack of quality public gyms in Atlantic City.”
The center will be built on Brighton Avenue adjacent to the casino’s Bluemercury Spa facility. The center will have entrances both through Tropicana’s the Quarter entertainment complex and on the street.
The center is part of $35 million in approved renovations planned by Tropicana, funded partially through New Jersey Casino Reinvestment Development Authority financing.
