Atlantic City’s Taj Mahal Announces Poker Room Makeover

Atlantic City’ struggling Trump Taj Mahal casino will close its money-losing poker room for renovation. The Taj hopes to re-open the room by the summer and return it to the top of the city’s live poker market.

Once the most popular of Atlantic City’s live poker rooms, the Trump Taj Mahal in Atlantic City has announced a major renovation of its 48-table live poker room.

Trump Entertainment Resorts CEO Robert Griffin said the room has become a money loser for the casino, which is struggling to emerge from bankruptcy.

“Poker is a money loser for us at this point,” he told the Associated Press. “With all the starts and stops in this process, we’ve lost enough business that we need to do something to make it profitable again.”

Griffin said the casino hopes to have the room re-open by July 4.
