Australia Ask InterPol to Investigate Click-Call Bets

According to newspaper The Australian, federal police in Australia have asked Interpol to investigate bet35 and Ladbrokes Australia’s ‘click-call’ live betting features.

The Australian newspaper has reported that federal police there have asked for international police organization Interpol to investigate bet35 and Ladbrokes Australia’s ‘click-call’ live betting features.

The Australian Federal Police were asked to investigate the bookmakers ‘click-call’ betting features by the Australian Communications & Media Authority. They have in turn referred the investigation to Interpol, as the Australian websites are hosted out of the country.

William Hill, however, which is located in Australia, is being looked at by the federal police, the paper said.

Australian authorities are investigating complaints that the British bookmakers have violated the country’s 2001 Gambling Act, which prohibits live betting services except by telephone. The feature used by bet35, Ladbrokes and William Hill mirrors live betting functions by allowing customers to connect to live market teams through their device’s microphone.

Ladbrokes Australia, however, recently announced that it had withdrawn its ‘QuickCall’ feature. The bookmaker has cancelled all advertising of the product and has withdrawn all digital inventory referring to the service.
