Australia’s Tabcorp Seeks Rent Holiday

Tabcorp Holdings Limited, Australia’s largest gaming entertainment group, has asked for a six-month rent holiday from its 374 commercial landlords due to having to temporarily close its 4,500 physical betting outlets. The remainder of the outlets are located within pubs and clubs.

The Saturday Paper obtained correspondence from the company to its landlords requesting relief from April 1 to September 30. This would, said the correspondence, give Tabcorp, “much needed relief and capital to enable the business … to be relaunched once consumer confidence has been restored.” Tabcorp estimates this would save it about $20 million.
