Avani Namibia Renovation Continues

Avani Windhoek Hotel & Casino in Windhoek, Namibia recently debuted phase one of its $20 million modernization project, including a new entrance and porte cochere, lobby and enhanced business facilities. General Manager Rudie Putter said, “Avani Windhoek Hotel & Casino has been an icon to the city, with a strategic location in one of the city’s most popular shopping centers and the refurbishment has been designed to deliver the Avani concept of living spaces for our guests.”

The new entry accommodates passenger vehicles and tour group busses, and offers safer pedestrian access to the hotel, located on one of Windhoek’s busiest avenues. Also, in addition to Dunes, the hotel’s main restaurant, the new lobby offers Pantry at Avani, a café featuring fresh fast food, fresh coffee, soft drinks, wine and cocktails. The new lobby area was designed by DLH, a Namibian interior design company, and includes the new Pantry at Avani.

Next to Pantry at Avani, the upgraded business lounge offers state-of-the-art technology, including Apple iMacs, a wireless color printer and high-speed internet access.

Putter stated, “This first phase of our redevelopment means that guests can now enjoy the convenience of entering the hotel from the main street, while larger groups or frequent travelers are now also welcomed at their own entrance and reception area, easing the congestion for other guests in the main lobby during busy periods.”

Phase two has begun, Putter said, and will include renovations at Dunes, new gym facilities featuring the Avanifit concept, new conference rooms and upgraded high-speed wifi throughout the facility.

Putter said the third and final phase will focus on all rooftop facilities and will include a new grand ballroom, a new signature rooftop restaurant and bar plus a new swimming pool and pool deck.

“This project extends far beyond a structural and décor makeover of the hotel, as we have invested significantly in training and upskilling our 100 percent Namibian staff,” Putter added.

He noted, “I started my career at this property in 1994, and returned to the hotel in 2010, and I’m really proud of the work that the design and construction teams have done so far. We’re all looking forward to the finished result, and to welcoming our local and international guests to our revitalized hotel, in the heart of exciting Windhoek.”
