Awaiting Margaritaville, River Spirit Renovates

Major renovations are under way at the Muscogee (Creek) Nation's River Spirit Casino in Tulsa, including a Johnny Rockets diner opening by June 30, plus updating, moving or adding several bars. Meanwhile the tribe is moving forward with its plans for a $335 million Margaritaville Casino at the location.

The Muscogee (Creek) Nation’s River Spirit Casino in Tulsa, Oklahoma is only five years old but it’s in the midst of a – million renovation, while preparations for the 5 million Margaritaville expansion are continuing. General Manager Jerry Floyd said the renovation will update the 330,000 square foot property, and several new features will be added. “We pride ourselves on keeping things fresh and exciting. We know the entertainment options available to our customers not just in Tulsa, but all over the country, and we want to make sure they have the most comfortable and fun environment they can get,” Floyd said.

Among the new attractions will be the hamburger-focused diner, Johnny Rockets, the first of the popular chain restaurant in Oklahoma. Open 24 hours a day, it will occupy the current home of the Player’s Club, which will move next to the casino’s main entrance by June 30. In addition, the current Mystic River Lounge will be transformed into the Jimmy Buffett-themed It’s 5 O’clock Somewhere bar. “That’ll give our customers a taste of what to expect with Margaritaville,” Floyd said.

Other changes include updating the high stakes area and VIP lounge, remodeling the Scoreboard lounge, adding a new casino bar, relocating the games pit and redecorating and new carpeting.

Floyd said the Margaritaville expansion is moving forward with plans for a 26-story luxury hotel, convention and meeting space, large pool deck, riverfront entertainment, 45,000 square foot themed casino and a  Margaritaville restaurant, bar and retail outlet overlooking the Arkansas River.
