Work on the $87 million Cascades Casino Delta in Ladner, in the Delta region of British Columbia, Canada continues, but with a reduced work force due to Covid-19, according to Gateway Casinos & Entertainment Ltd.
Before the pandemic began, Gateway had projected as opening for late 2021. It hasn’t officially pushed back that estimation, and last week Gateway spokeswoman Tanya Gabara said that most of the underground work for the casino, hotel parking is nearly complete and they are starting to pour the elevated slab for the casino complex.
Gabara stated “The uncertainty around the current Covid-19 pandemic continues to be a main focus for us and all Canadians. All of our resources are focused on re-opening our existing casinos and adjusting to the challenges of the ‘new normal’ that Covid-19 has brought to the gaming industry. Once we have re-opened our operations, we will be able to provide further details on the project.”
The casino will have a 40,000 square foot gaming floor with 600 slots and 30 table games, a restaurant and public house, buffet and steak and seafood restaurant.
The B.C. Lottery Corp. approved the project in 2018 and the Ministry of Transportation approved it last year.
