B.C. Lottery Corporation Under Fire

One gaming company in British Columbia, Canada is claiming the B.C. Lottery Corporation has been taking money unjustly over the past five years, after an agreement where they were supposed to cease the siphoning.

Great Canadian Gaming, who operates Great Canadian Casinos, will be taking the B.C. Lottery Corporation to court, and will look to collect million, which they claim was unjustly absconded. Their claim is that the BCLC took the money, which was intended for a trust, years after they agreed to stop.

Great Canadian says for years they have been fighting the BCLC over the issue. Initially, the BCLC had an agreement with companies that housed more than 300 slot machines, which saw money contributed to fund programs, which sought to promote casinos in a socially responsible manner.

The lawsuit claims that BCLC ended the agreement in 2009, but continued to collect funds every year, even though Great Canadian claims to have asked the BCLC to stop collection the money each subsequent year. The BCLC continued to collect 0.6 percent of revenues after the termination letter.
