Melco International Development Ltd. has named Craig Ballantyne property president of City of Dreams Mediterranean, its integrated resort project planned for the Greek Republic of Cyprus.
Ballantyne will oversee the resort’s daily operations, according to a statement from the company.
“I am honored that Melco has entrusted me with this challenging project, Ballantyne said.
Before joining Melco International in September 2017, Ballantyne worked for Melco chief Lawrence Ho as chief operating officer of Russian operations at Summit Ascent Holdings Ltd., which oversaw Tigre de Cristal, the sole casino resort operating in the Russian Far East’s Primorye casino zone. Ho has since sold his stake in the resort and resigned as chairman and non-executive director of Summit Ascent.
City of Dreams Mediterranean, to be developed with local partner Cyprus Phasouri (Zakaki) Ltd., is scheduled to open in early 2021. Until then, Melco has the right to open a temporary facility in Limassol. The partners have a 30-year gaming license, with the first 15 years as the market’s sole operator.
