Bangladesh Court Considers Club Games

The Supreme Court of Bangladesh will not rule immediately on the legality of wagering among private club members. Until a formal decision is made, those games may continue.

Patrons of private clubs in Bangladesh may continue to gamble for money. According to the Asia Gaming Brief, that country’s Supreme Court has deferred its decision on the legality of gambling in the clubs, but agreed those games can go on until a ruling is made.

Lawyers questioned the legality of the games in the High Court, which ordered a suspension of wagering at the Dhaka Club and the Ladies’ Club Dhaka, AGB reported. But the Supreme Court stayed the ruling for eight weeks as the High Court bench reviews the case.
